Our Founder
ZenDen.build was founded by designer and craftsman Hamish, whose instinct for creating calm, beautifully balanced spaces lies at the heart of every project.
What began as a passion for working with wood has grown into a studio that designs and builds bespoke retreat buildings — from shepherd huts and garden studios to ambitious architectural structures inspired by traditional rural forms.
Working alongside a small team of skilled craftspeople, Hamish approaches every project as a collaboration, listening carefully to each client and shaping their ideas into thoughtful, beautifully crafted spaces that feel completely at home in their surroundings.

Our Story
ZenDen.build began with a simple idea: that the spaces we spend time in should inspire calm, creativity and connection with the world around us. Surrounded by countryside and traditional rural buildings, we developed a fascination with the character and craftsmanship of structures that sit naturally within the landscape.

Every ZenDen begins with a conversation. We take the time to understand how you want to use the space, the character of the site and the ideas that inspire you.
From there we develop a design that reflects both your vision and the surrounding landscape. Once the design is refined, the structure is carefully crafted using high-quality materials and traditional building methods. Attention to detail is central to everything we do, from the structural frame through to the smallest finishing touches.
Depending on the nature and scale of the project, your Zen Den may be carefully crafted in our workshop before being delivered and installed on site, ready to enjoy. For larger or more integrated builds, construction takes place directly on site, allowing the structure to develop naturally within its surroundings. In either case, the result is a thoughtfully finished space where you can work, relax, create or simply escape.
